You’ll be great with people – a real ‘people person’ – able to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly in the right tone to suit the situation, and understanding others’ behaviors and expressions, as well as vocal cues. Having a good sense of humor, resilience, and a willingness to assist residents with their personal hygiene are also important.
What you will be doing
You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. Whether you have experience as a Care Assistant or Support Worker, you will use your knowledge and skills to help support people lead a valued and fulfilled life.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will utilize your excellent communication skills and experience in Learning Disabilities & Autism to support individuals through their care pathway.
It can be a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are essential. It is also hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your support; doing something today that they couldn’t do last week.
You’ll work 35 hours per week, with shifts of 7am - 2.30pm and 2.30pm - 10pm, including weekends on a rota basis. We are open to discussing longer shifts and overtime if desired.
Where you will be working
Location: Ormesby House, West Hill, Oxted, Surrey RH8 9JB
Ormesby House provides a ten-bed specialist residential service for men and women with learning disabilities, including autism and sensory and communication impairments. We are experienced in working with epilepsy and complex needs. The service is staffed 24 hours a day by a dedicated team led by an experienced Registered Manager.
The house features 10 en-suite bedrooms, communal lounges, a sunroom, and a fully enclosed garden. It is located in Oxted, within walking distance of the town’s facilities and amenities. Oxted has direct train access to London and Brighton, with the M25 and M23 motorways nearby.
In this role you will:
* We are seeking a female Support Worker to assist our female residents effectively.
* Preferably hold a valid UK manual driving license (held for 3 years) to assist with community visits and activities.
* Have strong empathy and a caring, compassionate nature.
* Be willing to support residents with personal hygiene.
* Possess excellent people and communication skills, with a good sense of humor.
* Handle challenging behaviors effectively.
* Maintain a positive and professional approach.
* Be reliable, flexible, hardworking, and honest.
* Reside locally or within a commutable distance.
You must live in the UK and have the right to work in the UK full-time. 20-hour Student and Skilled Worker Visas cannot be accepted.
