Advert Drinking Water Quality Specialist (19/912) Hybrid working with base in Dumfries or Stranraer £8,435 - £8,579 You will be required to work 12 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year. Are you looking for a new challenge? If you have a good understanding of public health issues in relation to drinking water, then the Environmental Health team would love you to join them in this exciting role. This role involves driving to private water supplies to take water samples, which can be in remote locations across our beautiful region. We are looking for someone who has good interpersonal skills as they will be communicating directly with residents every day. You will plan ahead so that you arrive on time for appointments and take the most efficient route to ensure that samples are returned on time, keeping accurate records. You must have good attention to detail. You will need a driving licence and have good time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands. Working days need to be approximately six hours long and mostly in the mornings to ensure that samples can be collected by the courier on the same day that they are taken. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
