Trustees Vacancies (including Chair of Trustees) – Weymouth Civic Society
Help shape the future of Weymouth’s heritage
Weymouth Civic Society exists to celebrate and protect the history, character, and heritage of Weymouth, and surrounding areas in Dorset. We run the Nothe Fort, an award-winning heritage attraction and museum, and Tudor House museum. We are deeply involved in wider issues about heritage, the built environment, and the future of our town.
We’re looking for a number of new Trustees to join our board. We are keen to hear from people with a range of different skills and experiences that can help to support our work.
You don’t need to be an expert – just someone who:
Has an interest in one or more of our four focus areas, which are:
1. Heritage
2. Lifestyle
3. Natural Environment
4. Culture
Is willing to commit time (probably about 5–10 hours per month)
Has a willingness to learn and get involved - knowledge of how charities work or experience in community groups is helpful, but not essential because training and support will be provided.
As part of this exercise, we are also seeking to recruit a new Chair of Trustees, to take a leading role in strategy and governance. The Chair will:
* Have an interest in local heritage and civic pride
* Enjoy working with people and groups
* Chair meetings constructively
* Have good communication skills
If you’re interested in local heritage and are committed to making a difference in your community, joining the Weymouth Civic Society board could be a great opportunity for you!
Why get involved?
You’ll be part of a long-standing and respected local group, have the chance to shape important projects in the town, and meet like-minded people who care about Weymouth and its future.
