A specialist SEN school in Sunderland, part of a well-established national trust, is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team permanently.
This specialist setting supports children and young people aged 5–19 with a range of additional needs including SEMH, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties and associated learning needs. The school prides itself on its therapeutic and nurturing approach, creating an environment where pupils feel safe, understood and able to thrive.
The Role:
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
* Assisting the class teacher with personalised learning activities
* Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
* Building strong relationships with pupils to support engagement and confidence
* Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
* Working closely with therapists, teachers and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or ASD
* Calm, patient and resilient approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
* Team player with a proactive attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
