Join to apply for the Animal Technician role at Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy.
Based in Cambridge, we are looking for an experienced animal technician to join our friendly, hardworking team and be actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals within our biofacility.
Responsibilities
* Perform general husbandry for rodents housed in conventional cages or IVCs and monitor welfare requirements.
* Maintain accurate records and environmental parameter logs; complete health monitoring and assist with general hygiene and cleaning tasks.
* Manage animal colonies and complete procedures, including Home Office Licensed procedures (A–C modules as applicable).
* Collaborate with research staff and team colleagues; contribute to daily operations and data recording.
* Prepare for and be prepared to apply for a Home Office personal license if required.
* Undergo a health assessment and security check after an offer of employment.
Qualifications
* Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or GCSE (A–C) in English, Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology), or equivalent.
* Desirable: hold, or be ready to apply for, a Home Office personal license with modules A–C.
* Experience in a technical laboratory setting with rodents housed in IVCs or conventional caging.
* Experience completing regulated procedures or surgery is advantageous.
* Positive, reliable, and able to interact well with team colleagues and research staff.
Salary and benefits
Base salary with an additional 2.5% supplement.
