The Role Please note this post is politically restricted. Lancaster City Council is looking for an experienced manager for its Planning and Housing Strategy functions. The role is a critical one, overseeing multi-disciplinary teams including Planning Policy, the Climate Change Policy Hub, Heritage & Design, Housing Strategy and Consultation & Engagement Teams. It is an exciting time to be joining the team at Lancaster. We are advancing a new Local Plan for the district. The Council is also nationally-acclaimed for its innovative work delivering climate mitigation and adaptation. Therefore this role has the potential to make a significant difference to the lives of our local residents and their communities. You will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused and integrated Planning and Housing Strategy Team, and to take an operational lead liaising with stakeholders and relevant agencies responsible for addressing the district’s needs. This post is permanent. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. You will be based at Lancaster Town Hall with hybrid working available dependant on service requirements. A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to carry out home visits throughout the district. As a result you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
