We’re working with a forward-thinking Local Authority in Yorkshire looking for a Team Manager to lead their Pathway (Leaving Care) Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team that supports young people transitioning from care into independence — helping them not just to cope, but to thrive.
About the Role
As Team Manager, you’ll lead and support a team of Social Workers and associated staff within the Leaving Care Pathway Service. You will:
1. Drive high-quality, relationship-based practice.
2. Ensure services meet all statutory requirements.
3. Champion systemic, evidence-based approaches to improve outcomes for care leavers.
4. Maintain a culture of excellence, learning, and accountability.
5. Work in collaboration across the Children, Young People and Families Directorate.
This role plays a crucial part in shaping the futures of care-experienced young people — helping them build resilience, independence, and a sense of belonging.
Your Impact
6. Promote strengths-based, person-centred planning.
7. Support the development of SMART, goal-focused care plans.
8. Model key systemic practice tools (e.g. genograms, collaborative planning).
9. Maintain a strong focus on diversity, dignity, and empowerment.
10. Provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced staff and students.
About You
You are a qualified, compassionate leader who brings vision and stability to your team. You're passionate about helping young people leaving care access the right support, at the right time.
️ Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
️ 4+ years post-qualified experience, with leadership or management experience preferred
️ Deep understanding of Child Protection legislation and Leaving Care pathways
️ Confident in multi-agency working and partnership building
️ Skilled in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution
️ Committed to continuous improvement and achieving the best outcomes for young people
️ Able to engage and motivate both staff and service users effectively
