Job Opportunity: Specialist Learning Disability, Neurodiversity and MCA Practitioner (Band 7)

University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) is offering a permanent position within our safeguarding team for a Specialist Learning Disability, Neurodiversity and MCA Practitioner (Band 7). This is a second post within the team, supporting all UHD sites—Poole Hospital, Bournemouth Hospital, and Christchurch Hospital—to enhance services and patient care.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to support UHD staff operationally and strategically, aiming to improve access and reduce health inequalities for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and neurodiversity. Responsibilities include training, data analysis, audits, networking, and creating links to prioritize care through the patient journey, ensuring reasonable adjustments are made for high-quality, equitable care.
The position is full-time, with a consideration for 30 hours per week. It requires NMC, AHP, or Registered Social Care Worker registration.

The successful candidate will work within our Safeguarding team as a visible, operational specialist, enhancing the quality of care for individuals aged 16 and above with learning disabilities and/or neurodivergence. Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing advice on assessments related to the Equality Act (2010), Mental Capacity Act (2005), safeguarding, best interest decisions, and DOLS.
2. Ensuring timely reasonable adjustments in care pathways for vulnerable adults/children and complex individuals.
3. Acting as an expert resource, offering guidance to staff, patients, and families.
4. Developing collaborative relationships with healthcare and multi-agency colleagues to promote patient-centered services.
