Job Title: Senior Design Consultant
Role Overview
The Senior Design Consultant will act as the creative anchor and strategic design partner for Evolv's in-house team, bringing senior-level direction across all aspects of seasonal design development. Based in the UK, this role bridges global trend intelligence with on-the-ground production realities in India. The Consultant will lead the creative direction, mentor and upskill the design team, own the seasonal calendar, and guide the full product journey — from initial research and concept through to final range sign-off and technical handover.
Role Purpose
The Senior Design Consultant will provide strategic creative leadership to strengthen and elevate Evolv Clothing Company’s in-house design function. The role is responsible for driving commercially relevant menswear and womenswear woven collections, enhancing seasonal product direction, and mentoring the internal design team to build a world-class design capability aligned with global market trends and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Creative & Product Direction
* Lead seasonal design direction for menswear and womenswear collections (SS & FW)
* Translate global trends into commercially relevant collections
* Guide silhouette, styling, fabric, trim, and colour direction
* Build balanced ranges across core, fashion, and hero products
Trend & Market Research
* Conduct trend forecasting across runway, retail, trade fairs, and streetwear markets
* Monitor competitor activity and identify commercial opportunities
* Create seasonal trend packs and inspiration presentations
Technical Development
* Review sketches, CADs, tech packs, fit comments, and product specs
* Ensure designs are commercially viable and production-ready
* Collaborate with factories and development teams on sample execution
Team Leadership & Mentoring
* Mentor and upskill junior/mid-level designers
* Lead regular design reviews and feedback sessions
* Introduce professional systems, structure, and best practices
Range Planning & Calendar Management
* Build and manage seasonal development calendars
* Track milestones from concept to sample approval
* Ensure deadlines are met across all functions
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
* 10+ years’ experience in fashion design / product development
* Strong background in woven menswear and womenswear
* Experience in shirts, trousers, dresses, outerwear, co-ords, tailoring, etc.
* Strong fabric and trim knowledge
* Excellent technical design / tech pack capability
* Experience mentoring teams and leading design functions
* Commercial understanding of retail pricing, margin, and market positioning
Preferred
* Experience working with India / South Asia manufacturing
* Exposure to UK / European retail markets
* Knowledge of trade fairs such as Première Vision, Texworld, Pure London
* Strong Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop skills
Working Model
* UK-Based Remote / Hybrid
* Approx. 2–3 days per week
* Quarterly travel to India (company supported)

Engagement Terms
* Contract Type: Freelance retained consultancy or part-time contract, to be mutually agreed.
* Location: UK-based with remote working. Quarterly travel to India for design reviews and factory visits (travel costs covered by Evolv Clothing Company).
* Working Pattern: Estimated 2–3 days per week, with flexibility around key seasonal milestones.
* Day Rate / Retainer: Competitive and commensurate with experience, expertise, and scope of engagement. To be discussed at interview stage.
* Reports To: Director, Evolv Clothing Company.
* Start Date: Immediate start preferred, or as mutually agreed.
The Opportunity
