At MASON Cycles, it takes a special group of people to create progressive bicycles for remarkable adventures. We’re looking for a new member of the team, to play a vital role in building and dispatching our bicycles around the world.
We're looking for a skilled mechanic who demonstrates true attention to detail and processes – in a position that will also bring together several other important roles and duties.
Responsibilities and requirements
* Accurate and careful picking of components in preparation for assembly
* Preparation of steel, aluminium and titanium framesets to a high standard
* Assembly of complete high-end endurance, gravel and adventure bikes to Mason’s exacting standards
* Final finishing and packing of bicycles and frames with utmost care, ready for dispatch
* Appreciation of strict quality control processes, with a strong sense of personal accountability for finished builds
* Ability to work quickly while maintaining standards and priorities
* Supporting the day-to-day organisation, efficiency and tidiness of the workshop
* Some contact with customers, by email, phone and in person
* Other similar tasks and responsibilities that may arise from time to time
Characteristics
* Meticulous attention to process, detail and finish
* Proficiency with all current technologies, including SRAM, Shimano and Campagnolo equipment – mechanical, electronic and hydraulic
* Comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative environment where priorities can quickly evolve
* Self-motivated and capable of working independently once briefed
* Strong communication skills with colleagues and customers, both written and verbal
* Semi-flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend work
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a willingness to go the extra mile
* Strong awareness of health and safety, and commitment to maintaining a clean, organised workspace
* Computer-literacy, able to use our online systems
* Team-oriented approach with pride in your work and output
About MASON
We’re a truly independent British bicycle brand, designing and engineering award-winning metal bikes for real-world riding. Manufactured in Italy and Scotland, our handbuilt framesets arrive in Sussex to be meticulously checked and prepared. Some framesets are delivered directly to customers, while others are built to riders’ custom specification before being carefully boxed and dispatched.
Each MASON model is designed with craft and precision foremost in mind, and every bicycle is built to a custom specification. Our new mechanic will play a vital role in ensuring these very high standards are maintained throughout every stage of our process.
Your role is vital in ensuring that we provide a 100% perfect product to every MASON customer.
We are based in a working farm within the South Downs National Park, near Lancing in West Sussex, just a 20 minute ride from two railway stations.
Details
* Full time: 9:00-5.30pm Mon-Thurs, Fri 9:00-5.00pm
* Occasional weekends and events – time in lieu of weekdays
* Salary £28,000 – £30,000, dependent upon experience
* 28 days’ annual leave (inc bank holidays) – Holiday entitlement will increase after each two-year period of continuous service with the company.
