A highly successful and well-established Catholic girls' independent school in the prestigious Kensington area seeks a creative and skilled Art & Design Teacher for a full-time, permanent position commencing in September. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving Arts department within a school committed to the artistic and personal development of young women within a supportive faith-based environment.
About Our Learning Community:
* Our school provides a supportive and faith-based learning environment rooted in Catholic principles, with a strong commitment to academic excellence and the holistic education of girls, valuing the importance of the arts in fostering creativity and spiritual growth.
* The Art & Design department is well-resourced with dedicated studios and encourages students to explore their artistic potential across a range of media.
About the Role:
* Deliver engaging and challenging Art & Design lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering a range of disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, and digital media.
* Develop and implement innovative lesson plans that encourage experimentation, critical thinking, and the development of individual artistic styles, while also exploring historical and contemporary art movements within a Catholic ethical framework.
* Assess student progress through project work, sketchbooks, portfolios, and presentations, providing detailed and constructive feedback to guide their artistic development.
* Contribute to extracurricular art clubs, workshops, or exhibitions to further students' engagement with the subject and potentially explore themes related to faith and art.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Art & Design or a closely related field.
* A strong understanding of art principles, techniques, art history, and contemporary art practices.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and practical skills, with proficiency in a range of art media and techniques.
* A passion for art and design and the ability to inspire students' creativity and critical thinking about visual culture within a Catholic context.
* Competitive salary (commensurate with experience and independent school pay scales).
* Access to well-equipped art studios and a supportive Catholic girls' high school environment.
* Opportunities for professional development and collaboration within a creative arts department.
* A chance to contribute to the education and formation of young women in a school with a strong sense of community and faith.
