Main duties of the job

We have an exciting vacancy in the Fenland Family Support and Safeguarding Team for a Team Manager. For more details about the role, please see below.

About us

We offer a wide range of great benefits if you join us as a colleague at Cambridgeshire County Council. To find out more, please see below.

Job responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager to join our Family Support & Safeguarding Fenland Team. This is a permanent full-time position for 37 hours per week. The role will be based at Awdry House in Wisbech, with some working from home, and will commence as soon as the successful candidate is able.

This opportunity could be ideal if you're looking to expand your management skills and experience in a different service area or if you're a Senior Practitioner wishing to step into a management role.

You need to be an experienced practitioner, committed to improving outcomes for children & young people. You will work in a strengths-based and solution-focused approach, have good organisational skills, be an effective communicator, have a sound understanding of thresholds, and be able to work closely with internal and external agencies.

Knowledge and understanding of Family Support & Safeguarding is advantageous but not essential, as training and support will be provided for the right candidate. In return, you can expect a supportive and encouraging peer and management structure and an opportunity to enhance your skills and abilities in Family Support & Safeguarding. If you're seeking a new challenge and want to be part of something meaningful, this could be the role for you!

If this environment sounds like where you would thrive, we would love to hear from you! For more information, call Jackie Wild, Team Manager, on 07826 860394 or email jackie.wild@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and all staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

We value our colleagues at Cambridgeshire County Council and have developed numerous benefits beyond basic salary, such as annual leave, sick pay, pension, and mileage:

* A comprehensive wellbeing package covering all aspects of wellbeing, accessible to your family
* Buy up to 4 weeks additional annual leave (pro-rata) via our salary sacrifice scheme

What will you be doing?

As a Team Manager, you will oversee a team of Social Workers and qualified practitioners, supporting children & families requiring protection and statutory intervention under various legal frameworks.

You will ensure management oversight to progress children and young people's plans, maintain proportionate and child-focused responses, adhere to timescales, and keep supervision up to date and reflective of needs.

The role involves practice and professional development for staff and the team. Working closely with other managers and the Service Manager, you will contribute to the service's development journey.

About you

You must:

* Be a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
* Be able to work from various locations and travel independently across the county
