We are recruiting for an Associate Vision Science Practictioner to join our Ophthalmic Imaging team at GOSH. The post will involve carrying out a range of ophthalmic imaging investigations in children with simple and/or complex medical conditions. This may include basic (unsupervised) or specialist (supervised) investigations, including but not exclusive to OCT (Spectralis, handheld, ultra-wide field), fundus imaging (Optos, handheld), Biometry (IOL master) and ultrasound.
You will be expected to contribute and participate in clinical development, audit and research projects involved in the unit under the direction of the ophthalmic imaging lead. Non-clinical workload will vary but will include equipment maintenance, repair, database management, quality assurance/management and contribution to departmental audit or research projects as directed.
* Simple and complex ophthalmic imaging in children, under supervision as required (see full job description for more details), adhering to local or wider standards and protocols.
* Communication with children and families, sometimes in stressful or upsetting circumstances
* Perform daily quality and calibration checks on equipment, escalating or resolving faults as required
* Be responsible for data integrity on imaging systems and patient electronic records (through EPIC).
* Follow trust policy to carry out duties and responsibilities with care, treating individuals equally and with confidentiality.
* Maintain a high attention for detail when inputting or contributing to data collection or entry
* Facilitate general administration within the ophthalmology imaging and wider department, as directed.
* Attend regular staff meetings and maintain CPD record.
* Participate in team discussions
