A Secondary School in Bury are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Librarian with great ambition to manage, develop and promote the school library, to cover a period of maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in promoting literacy, managing library resources, and creating a weing space for students to explore, read, and grow.
Location: Bury, BL9
Hours: 25 per week, 11am - 4pm Monday - Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Maternity Cover (up to 12 months)
Rate: £ - £15/hour DOE
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Operate and issue return of books service.
2. Classify, catalogue and process new books and other resources.
3. Identify damaged stock and repair existing stock as necessary.
4. Withdraw from stock as necessary.
5. Arrange stock in an orderly and secure manner.
6. Undertake routine administration
7. Identify overdue books and issue notices
8. Issue membership cards and file membership forms.
9. Supervise the library during lunch breaks.
10. Undertake library displays.
11. Promote the library through a range of activities throughout the year
12. Head the selection of new stock.
13. Collect data with regard to library use, number of books borrowed and the use of the library during lessons.
14. Liaise with the Head of English to select and order new stock.
Key Skills/Experience:
15. General clerical/administrative experience
16. IT Literacy and good keyboard skills.
17. Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
18. Ability to relate well to children and to adults.
19. Good interpersonal skills
20. Good organising, planning and prioritising skills.
21. Methodical with good attention to detail.
