Overview
Full time / 37 Hours per week / Fixed Term for 6 months. Do you have a passion for allotments and working outdoors? The city council is responsible for 43 allotment sites across the city and the allotments and amenities team undertake a range of maintenance tasks across the sites for plot holders. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our allotments team at Abbey Park, working as a team leader supervising a team of less-able staff.
What you'll be doing
You'll be managing a team of less abled employees in carrying out a range of soft and hard landscaping work to the highest level across all our sites. You\'ll operate and maintain hand and mechanical equipment and be responsible for ensuring that the staff are using the equipment in a safe manner. You\'ll also be responsible for carrying out allotment inspections, issuing improvements notices and evictions as well as letting new plots as required.
What you'll need
You will need experience of working with and supervising a team of less able individuals, ensuring that they are managed and supported as appropriate. You\'ll need good levels of communication skills and a customer-centred approach as you\'ll frequently work with members of the public and other allotment holders. With substantial previous experience in horticulture and landscaping, you\'ll understand COSHH regulations and have knowledge of health & safety issues. Using good literacy and numeracy skills you\'ll complete relevant paperwork, and ensure records are accurate and up to date. A full driving licence is essential as you will be required to carry out driving duties.
