The post holder will participate in the delivery of in-house Facilities Management (FM) services within a specified area of the Trust. This may include in-patient wards, administrative and clinical areas, and retail outlets. FM services include cleaning, catering, portering, bed making, and laundering. Some services are unit‑specific; therefore, not all duties outlined in this job description will apply to every post, and responsibilities will be identified as appropriate. This list is not exhaustive.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness.
As a member of the Facilities Team, the post holder is expected to demonstrate flexibility, strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and the ability to use initiative to prioritise and organise their workload effectively.
Main duties of the job
* Provide domestic services within designated areas of the Trust in accordance with Trust policies, procedures, and National Standards of Cleanliness.
* Undertake general cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors; high and low dusting.
* Descale taps and fixtures in line with cleaning schedules.
* Dispose of, segregate, and store general, recyclable, and clinical waste in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
* Report environmental issues that may adversely affect cleaning standards (e.g. damaged flooring or surfaces) to the Supervisor.
Food Services (Where Applicable)
* Assist with the regeneration of cook‑chill meals, including checking, recording, and monitoring food temperatures in accordance with food safety procedures.
* Prepare basic food items such as soup, gravy, and custard to support meal service.
* Clean all crockery, cutlery, and utensils used during meal service.
* Ensure oven gloves, cloths, and protective items are used correctly and laundered in accordance with Trust procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
* Participate in supervision, appraisal, and performance review processes in accordance with Trust policy.
* Comply with Trust policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements at all times.
* Attend and complete all mandatory and role‑specific training, including training delivered via digital systems.
