This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining systems, machines, and processes to solve practical problems and improve efficiencies. Industries may include FMCG, construction, food production or pharmaceutical.ResponsibilitiesSupporting mechanical activities on Blue Chip Client sitesProviding mechanical solutions to problems using engineering expertise - Design through to installationEnsuring manufacturing processes comply with industry regulations and safety standardsMaintaining manufacturing equipment and machinery predominantly in FMCG and pharmaceutical environmentsRepair and overhaul of general mechanical items such as motors, pumps, valves, bearings and shaftsMechanical modification of existing equipment in packaging manufacturing environmentAbility to interact with site utilities (compressed air, steam, water, etc) and modify piping systems within limits of designGeneral mechanical snagging in a manufacturing line environmentUse of FLT, MEWP, Scissor lifts and other plant and equipment (training and licenses preferred, but will be provided)Provide mechanical engineering support to engineering project management teamSkills & ExperiencePrevious experience in similar roleRecognised apprenticeship/time served in electrical or mechanical engineeringStrong hand tool skills – bench fitting · Strong understanding of machining processesStrong understanding of engineering material propertiesStrong understanding of engineering design principlesStrong problem solving, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Continuous Improvement (CI) skillsStrong understanding of working safely and risk perceptionStrong understanding of reading technical drawings (CAD)Experience of working with all types of pumps, motors and rotating equipmentExperience of working with manufacturing linesExperience of working in a fast-paced environmentExperience of good engineering practicesAbility to work to tight deadlinesAbility to work well as part of a teamAbility to work well independently with a brief from the client or project managerAbility to organise sub componentry for any assemblies where requiredAbility to design bespoke solutions for the client or needs of a Project ManagerGood communication skills as this will be a client facing roleGood at using Microsoft packages at a basic level to write reports and interact with spreadsheetsDesired: experience working from MEWPs & Scissor LiftsDesired: experience working in a blue chip factory environmentDesired: IOSH certificationIf you feel you have the necessary skills and experience to be successful in this role click on “APPLY” today!
