Role
Our client is a £200m UK-based transport and warehousing group, comprising 12 trading companies operating across 10 transport business units. With a fleet of up to 800 HGVs and 1,100 trailers, the group delivers industry-leading logistics and storage solutions to customers nationwide.
We are seeking a Fleet Financial Analyst to play a pivotal role in delivering robust financial analysis, reporting, and strategic planning for our extensive and diverse fleet operations.
The Fleet Financial Analyst will be responsible for collating, analysing, and presenting financial and operational data relating to the Group's fleet. The role will support both day-to-day operational decision-making and long-term strategic planning, including the development and management of a coherent fleet replacement programme.
The successful candidate will combine strong financial skills with commercial awareness and the ability to interpret data from multiple sources to provide actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Analytical Duties
* Collate, consolidate, and reconcile fleet-related financial data from multiple systems and business units.
* Analyse operating costs, lease/finance agreements, maintenance spend, fuel consumption, insurance costs, and other key fleet expenditure lines.
* Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual fleet performance reports, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
* Monitor actual vs budget performance and prepare variance analysis with clear commentary.
Fleet Planning & Strategy
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive fleet replacement plan, including costings, timings, and alignment with operational requirements.
* Evaluate procurement options (purchase, lease, contract hire) and their financial impact.
* Support tenders and supplier negotiations with robust financial modelling and cost-benefit analysis.
* Identify opportunities to optimise fleet utilisation and reduce costs without compromising service.
Reporting & Communication
* Produce high-quality written reports and presentations for senior management and operational teams.
* Work closely with Finance, Fleet, Procurement, and Operations colleagues to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
* Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders in a clear, concise, and commercially focused manner.
Required Experience
* Proven financial analysis experience, ideally within transport, logistics, or fleet-based businesses.
* Strong Excel and data manipulation skills; confident in working with large datasets from multiple sources.
* Excellent numeracy and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
* Ability to interpret complex financial and operational data and translate it into actionable insights.
* Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of cost drivers in fleet operations.
* Experience in producing management reports and presenting to senior stakeholders.
* Self-motivated, organised, and able to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Part-qualified or qualified accountant (AAT, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.
* Degree in finance, business, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
* 3-5+ years' experience in a financial or analytical role, ideally within transport, logistics, or manufacturing.
* Demonstrable experience of building financial models and business cases.
