Operational Lead Orthoptist

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Orthoptist to join our team as an Operational Lead Orthoptist. This role will support and deputise for the Head Orthoptist and provide clinical and operational leadership at our Burton sites.
Main duties
* Perform highly skilled clinical duties and direct patient care, including paediatric and adult motility, amblyopia, strabismus, low vision, special needs, visual processing, and stroke services.
* Provide Orthoptic support to Eye Casualty, Neurology and Maxillo–Facial departments.
* Support and guide clinical staff in all areas of Orthoptic care, including complex cases.
* Day‑to‑day management of a clinical team of Orthoptists and Diagnostic Ophthalmic Technicians – rota, absence, personal development, and line management.
* Collaborate with leaders in Orthoptics, Optometry, Ophthalmology and other specialties to coordinate and advance the Orthoptic and diagnostic service.
Qualifications & experience
* Significant clinical experience in Orthoptics.
* Leadership experience at a senior clinical level.
* Current leadership, organisational and negotiating skills.
* Teaching qualification recognised by the Health Professions Council.
* Degree or diploma in Orthoptics and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Masters qualification in Healthcare Leadership or equivalent training/experience.
