Job Overview
North Yorkshire Council is investing in our Children and Young People’s service and is looking for a Director to lead and expand our teams. The role involves developing new capacity within the Family Help, Multi‑agency Child Protection and social care teams to meet increasing demand.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Family Assessment and Support Teams, ensuring high quality services for children, young people and families.
* Oversee routine assessments, Child and Family Plans, Child Protection Plans and, when necessary, pre‑proceeding work and care proceedings.
* Work with other agencies and internal teams to deliver integrated support for children from birth to 18.
* Support the Team Manager and Practice Supervisors to provide supervision and professional development for social workers.
* Foster a culture of safe, effective and relationship‑based practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience in social work with children and families and a strong knowledge of child protection.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop new service capacities.
* Knowledge of National and local statutory frameworks.
* Ability to work collaboratively across agencies.
* Support for CPD and ongoing training.
