We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older Adult Inpatient team in Barrow in Furness. The post is full time (10PA). Come and join an area of natural beauty on the edge of the Lake District.
The postholder will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration will be payable (0.5 PA + 5% supplement). The role is based on Ramsay Ward within the Dane Garth Unit in Furness General Hospital. FGH is a large district general hospital with around 268 beds, a full range of specialties and an A&E department. The Dane Garth unit has established resident doctor posts including FY1s, FY2s, a CT and GPSTs. This post holder would have the support of a resident doctor, along with a SAS Doctor. There is an active monthly peer group meeting of medical colleagues within the Cumbria locality too. The post holder will work with a multidisciplinary team including nurse consultant, psychologist, clinical leads, community mental health nurses, occupational therapy, HCA and trainee advanced clinical practitioner.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date. It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
Responsibilities
* Provide consultant psychiatry services to the Older Adult Inpatient team.
* Participate on the Consultant On Call rota (0.5 PA + 5% supplement).
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurse consultants, psychologists, clinical leads, community mental health nurses, occupational therapy staff, HCA and trainee advanced clinical practitioners.
* Engage in teaching and supervision as appropriate; opportunities to be a Clinical & Educational Supervisor and to take on roles in Digital Leadership if interest exists.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and eligibility for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
* Section 12 Approved at the start of employment and Approved Clinician Status or eligibility to obtain it.
