We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with administration experience to join our team within Paediatrics/ Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

All references from current and previous employers will be sought and MUST cover a minimum of 3 years employment. PLEASE NOTE it is a requirement of this Trust that all successful applicants pay for their DBS certificate if a check is required for the post. This will be done through deduction from your monthly pay over a maximum of three months. It is also a requirement that all successful applicants register or are registered with the DBS update service where a DBS is required.

The Patient Pathway Coordinator role will support the proactive management of patients on an admitted and non‑admitted clinical pathway. The post holder will support the collection and accurate recording of information following a patient referral, which will enable the Trust to accurately identify the time from referral to treatment. The role will lead on the tracking of pathways of patients.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide day‑to‑day administrative services, performance delivery and management of waiting lists for Paediatrics and Gynaecology.
* Work closely with a wide range of clinical and managerial staff, providing high standard of administrative support to ensure patients receive treatment as soon as possible and national targets are met.
* Manage and report on the waiting lists, monitoring, maintaining and validating waiting lists for clinic appointments and day cases, ensuring staff have clear instructions around deadlines and communication of potential breaches.
* Liaise with Consultants, Specialist Doctors, General Practitioners and other Health Professionals regarding outpatient clinic requirements and operational escalations.
* Escalate issues to the Admin Manager and Assistant Service Line Manager as appropriate.
* Complete own work in a timely manner consistent with departmental practice or protocol.
* Work in a manner consistent with Trust and local policies and procedures, protocols, etc.
* Maintain good working relationships with the Admin Manager, seeking guidance when needed.
* Identify best practice and develop working practice in the unit/team to deliver an efficient and effective administration service within the area of remit.
* Maintain and store appropriate records.
