The college is seeking an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic part time Animal Care and Equine lecturer to join the well established Equine team. The ideal candidate should be a qualified lecturer with experience of delivering City and Guilds Technical Level 2 and 3 in both Animal and Equine Management, have worked in an equine related industry, maintain strong links with employers, hold a BHS Stage 2 qualification, and be experienced in teaching the riding elements of the equine curriculum. This mixed role across Animal and Equine requires confidence and experience in delivering all aspects of the Animal and Equine technicals and T‑Levels up to Level 3. It is an exciting time to join a growing section of a well established, innovative and high‑performing curriculum area.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach a wide range of full and part‑time courses in line with the college and curriculum area specifications.
* Contribute to the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum in the school.
* Prepare and mark assessments as required within the range of programmes timetabled.
* Promote and participate in the delivery of Basic / Key Skills.
* Be responsible for continuous improvement in attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement of students in designated teaching groups.
* Produce full, considered and timely reports and references on students.
* Participate in student interviews, enrolment and induction, open days and other liaison activities.
* Work cooperatively within a team and attend all team meetings.
* Fully participate in the college's ILT strategy, including contributing to the upkeep of the section's intranet site.
* Adopt fully all curriculum initiatives adopted by the curriculum area.
* Maintain comprehensive and up‑to‑date knowledge of specialist areas.
* Maintain current and appropriate resources for all course units taught including Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans and suitable teaching materials, ensuring differentiated learning opportunities are in place.
* Contribute to the total learning experience of students within the curriculum area.
* Ensure the application of Inclusive Learning in all areas of activity.
* Continuously develop and improve professional knowledge.
* Carry out any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.
Essential Criteria
* Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
* Degree and/or relevant professional qualification (e.g. HNC/D).
* Experience of teaching within the subject area.
* Practical/industrial experience within the vocational field.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the subject area.
* Understanding of current educational initiatives.
* Creative and innovative approach to development of teaching materials.
* Intermediate level of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; willingness to undertake additional IT training if required.
* Knowledge of software packages such as Promonitor, Goldmine and student record systems.
* Familiarity with using VLEs and e‑Learning packages.
