We are seeking a dynamic and committed professional to join our school as a Learning Support Assistant. You will be ambitious, motivated, and compassionate, with a commitment to improving life chances for our students. The school is on a rapid improvement journey, and you will need to contribute to this journey with time, effort, and expertise.
About The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
* Provide support for students with speech, language, communication, social, and emotional difficulties.
* Assist students in using resources, including IT, and help them access the national curriculum.
* Support individual and group work, following plans set by the Learning Consultant.
* Deliver pre-planned programmes of work under the direction of a teacher.
* Help assess, record, and monitor student progress.
* Supervise students on school trips and during break/lunchtime.
* Liaise with teachers, staff, and parents/carers to support student development.
* Take responsibility for the care and welfare of students, including personal care if required.
* Attend planning meetings and training sessions as needed.
* Play a full part in the life of the Academy, upholding our values and ethos.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* GCSE Grade C (contemporary Grade 4) or above in Maths and English.
* Recent and relevant professional development.
* Ability to support children individually, in small groups, and in whole-class settings.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Trustworthy, respectful of confidentiality, and suitable to work with children and young people.
* Competent ICT skills and a positive, resilient outlook.
Desirable:
* GCSE Grade C or above in Science.
* Relevant qualification in Childcare and/or Education.
* Experience leading interventions or working in a SEN department.
* Ability to adapt resources and suggest alternative ways of supporting children.
* Evidence of previous CPD/training related to the role.
