Job Title: Use of Force Coordinator
Location: Heathrow IRC
Department: Safer Communities
Reports to: Head of Safer Communities
As the Use of Force Coordinator at Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre, you will oversee and manage the use of force within the centres, ensuring that all interventions are necessary, reasonable and proportionate and in line with current legislation. The role involves coordinating, recording, and reviewing all incidents involving force, providing guidance and training to staff, and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding standards. You will also work to foster a culture of de-escalation and conflict resolution, reducing the need for force wherever possible, while maintaining the safety and security of both residents and staff.

Qualifications and Experience
* Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in training and guiding staff in high-pressure environments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide feedback, conduct debriefings, and liaise with multiple stakeholders.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review incidents, identify trends, and implement improvements.
* Conflict resolution and de-escalation expertise, with a focus on reducing the need for physical interventions.
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to work closely with healthcare and mental health professionals to manage vulnerable residents.
* Proficiency in incident reporting systems and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and operational standards.
* Possess good IT skills (Essential)
* Have a full driving licence (Desirable)
* Achieve or possess accreditation as a Use of Force instructor (Desirable)
* Pass or possess fitness test to Advanced C&R level annually (Essential)
