Job overview

We are recruiting for a part time Children's Support Worker.

You will be a core member of the Children's Home-Based Short Breaks team based at Capital House where you will be delivering care, both clinical and non-clinical to patients/ clients.

You’ll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.

Please note, this vacancy does not meet the criteria for skilled worker sponsorship and therefore, we are unable to accept applications from candidates that cannot provide documentary evidence of right to work in the United Kingdom.

Main duties of the job

Your daily activities will be varied to include:
• 3-hour play-based sessions delivered within the home and community setting to infants and pre-school children
• Basic observations
• personal care
• Enteral feeding
• Catheter care
• Mouth care
• Stoma care
• Shunt care
• Oxygen & suction care
• Seizure management
• Pressure area care
• Supporting with physiotherapy exercises
• Supporting with speech & language plans
• Supporting fluid and nutrition
• Risk assessment

Person specification

Qualifications, training and experience

Essential criteria

1. A Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3. This could be an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent international qualification in healthcare
2. You’ll need to have recent experience of healthcare/ working as a health care assistant gained through education, work experience or previous employment

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria

3. You’ll need have sound communication skills to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing
4. You may also have the Care Certificate, but if not, we will support you to achieve this within the first 3 months of starting
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. IT skills
