What you can expect to do as a Core Team Foundation Developer at SpareRoom: Work with developers to implement and test new site features and create admin tools To develop and extend our RESTful next-generation APIs Work closely with our marketing team to provide support and continuously develop & improve our in-house email sending system Use MySQL database to gather data and create custom and reusable reports for internal use Liaise with customer services to diagnose and solve issues with the site and internal systems, prioritising based on customer impact Maintain a high test coverage and write technical documentation for your code Work with Git version-control system and Linux shell Work with the latest CI systems like Jenkins & Github workflows Review other developers’ code using GitHub pull requests, we see this as a great opportunity to learn How we like to work: Simple, easy to read code Small iterative releases where developers release their own code Continuous testing environment Test Driven Development Collaboration over isolation Short lived, self-organised, project teams Pair coding in order to share & improve skills and code quality You should apply if you: Are a passionate software developer looking to progress your career in a fully digital ecommerce business Have a thirst for learning new skills, modern technologies and the latest methodologies Are interested in learning to develop using Perl (it's not necessary to know before you start, but it helps) Have an interest in working across all areas of the system, including performance and security What it’s like to work at SpareRoom: Competitive salary Flexible, fun and challenging work environment where innovative ideas are encouraged We’re based in modern, spacious offices at our Stockport head office, offering free fruit, premium coffee, and a housekeeper to keep you refreshed.
