About The Role
The Environmental Team is recruiting early career Environmental Engineers and Environmental Specialists. You will work in a fast-paced environment on a wide variety of energy projects, supporting technical approaches and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of professionals in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, management and permitting.
You will work with clients on projects in the UK and overseas, spanning onshore and offshore. The team includes engineers, marine biologists, chemists, geologists and GIS specialists. As energy transition accelerates, we are supporting projects across traditional oil & gas and newer sectors such as hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and offshore wind.
You will support environmental assessments and studies across the following areas:
* Carbon management, energy efficiency, de-carbonisation
* New energy technologies including hydrogen and ammonia
* Environmental impact assessment
* Environmental permitting and compliance
* Environmental modelling
The successful candidate will be part of the Environmental Delivery Team within Genesis, collaborating with other discipline teams to provide environmental inputs on projects for public and private clients in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities Include
* Executing environmental studies and assessments including application of the environmental impact assessment process and best available techniques in line with regulatory and client requirements
* Characterisation and quantification of emissions and discharges for the energy sector
* Supporting clients with reporting and compliance requirements related to offshore and onshore operations
* Input to HAZID/ENVID reviews and multi-discipline engineering projects
* Set up, run and interpret outputs from models (oil spill, drill cuttings, marine discharges, noise and air) with assistance from the Genesis modelling team
* Assist in the preparation of technical reports and proposals
* Assist in preparing materials for presentation to clients
* Identification and interpretation of relevant regulations and standards
* Interaction with clients to ensure delivery of requirements to agreed scope, schedule and budget
About You - Skills And Experience Required
The successful applicant must:
* Have a degree in a relevant science, engineering or environmental subject
* Have an awareness of environmental legislation
* Have an awareness of the environmental impact assessment process
* Be a strong team player
* Be well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines
* Have excellent written skills with attention to detail
* Ability to think innovatively
* Computer literate including MS Office software
Desirable:
* Experience using GIS to analyze data and prepare graphics for reports
* Knowledge of software development using Python, Fortran, C, Matlab or similar
* Knowledge of sectors such as oil & gas operations, onshore/offshore wind, infrastructure projects, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage
It is essential that applicants have the right to work in the UK. Flexibility for ad hoc travel within the UK and abroad (Genesis and/or client offices / offshore visits).
