Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 16:30pm

We now have an excellent opportunity for a Technical Instructor, to join our busy Wheelchair service and support in the delivery of an outstanding clinical service across York and North Yorkshire. Working in a busy wheelchair centre as a Technical Instructor is a rewarding career where you help and support a variety of different patients every day, to get busy living!

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can help us in our mission to improve people’s quality of life and independence every day. Our services allow people to remain in their homes, this helps prevent extended hospital stays, allowing the NHS to deliver frontline care where it is needed most. OurTechnical Instructorsare a pivotal part of the success of the service we provide.

What we look for in a Technical Instructor:

* You will work within appropriate guidelines and upon direction of a wheelchair therapist to deliver wheelchair solutions and clinical interventions which meet the service users’ individual needs.
* In this ‘hands on’ technical role you will work with the technical team to repair and modify wheelchairs, as well as providing appropriate education to patients and carers in order to encourage patient participation in the management of their condition.
* You will also take responsibility for Ensuring client records are maintained and providing typed reports of assessments and handovers carried out, as necessary, guaranteeing that all reports written by self, supervisees or students are to an acceptable standard.
* Previous experience of working as a Technical Instructor is highly advantageous, preferably from a relevant clinical area; although we welcome applications from Technical Instructor’s from any background who are looking to further develop their knowledge and experience in this specialised industry. Previous experience working as a therapy assistant provides a great background for the transition to the role of technical instructor too! We also welcome applications from individuals who haven’t got any previous experience but who can demonstrate excellent hand skills from a different industry and a patient focused manner.
* As a Technical Instructor, you will be a strong communicator, and have a flexible and caring approach. You will be methodical and have good organisational skills, particularly when working to varying deadlines, and you will be a proactive individual, who is passionate about delivering an excellent service and developing your skills within a professional service setting.
* You will use these skills to work closely within a multi-disciplinary team, to deliver an effective patient led service to wheelchair users throughout the region.
