Job Overview
A key part of the company’s commercial team, initially supporting the Managing Director in his dealings with overseas suppliers, with the goal of becoming fully autonomous in the role within 18 months.
The role involves daily liaison with the company’s overseas suppliers to ensure timely product delivery to meet UK customers’ schedules. It is based in a busy open-plan office, requiring constant communication with operational colleagues.
Responsibilities
1. Work with the Managing Director to meet with overseas suppliers both in the UK and abroad to establish supply programmes.
2. Monitor the delivery of these programmes by overseeing the entire supply chain until products arrive at the UK warehouses, liaising with export and import agents and suppliers’ management.
3. Keep internal operations and sales teams updated with information about upcoming arrivals.
4. Provide regular feedback to suppliers regarding the condition and quality of arrivals.
The Individual
Applicants should demonstrate solid achievements in a trading environment, with experience in purchasing or supply chain management. Candidates from other trading sectors will also be considered.
While full training will be provided, this is not an entry-level position. Candidates should have 10+ years of experience and demonstrate high commercial acumen.
Excellent communication skills are essential due to the multi-functional interactions involved in the role.
The candidate must be mature and comfortable engaging with suppliers in both professional and social settings.
Travel of 4-6 weeks abroad annually is expected, with the first year primarily office-based. Flexible working arrangements may be available after this period, depending on role requirements.
