Occupational Therapy Support Worker

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within our friendly, well-established Occupational Therapy service in the Mental Health Service for Older People (MHSOP) based in University Hospital Llandough. The successful applicants will work alongside the Occupational Therapists within the occupational therapy team on the in- patient wards and in the community.
Appropriate training and induction will be provided within the department. Staff of all grades are encouraged to engage in continuous professional development.

Main duties of the job
The role enables meaningful patient centered engagement in occupations, supporting the Occupational Therapists in their assessment and intervention. The interventions are carried out both on an individual and group basis.
The work also involves the collection of patient data, as well as other administrative and organisational tasks, stock keeping and electronic record keeping.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Good general education numeracy and literacy to at least GCSE level.
* Evidence of further education e.g. relevant NVQ sports science degree.
* Agored Diploma in occupational therapy support.
Experience
* Healthcare work
* Evidence of working with people both individually or in groups.
* Worked within a rehabilitation setting.
* NHS experience
* Previous experience as an occupational therapy worker or therapy technician experience.
* Experience in delivering occupational therapy program or class taking.
Skills
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good organisation skills
* Evidence of Awareness of own limitations
* Basic digital technology skills
* Able to work as a member of a team
* Ability to speak Welsh
Special Knowledge
* Knowledge of basic rehabilitation and role of therapy
