Technical SEO Executive Job Description
Job Purpose:
To deliver technical SEO audits, recommendations, and optimisations that improve client websites' search performance, visibility, and organic growth.
Role Overview
Upperdog are seeking a detail-oriented and ambitious Technical SEO Executive to join our team. You will be responsible for supporting and implementing technical SEO strategies across a range of client websites, ensuring they are fast, crawlable, and optimised in line with best practices. You will also support client workshops and discovery sessions, helping to gather requirements and translate them into actionable SEO strategies. This role requires a minimum of 1 year's SEO experience (agency side preferred) and a passion for problem-solving, analysis, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Technical SEO
· Conduct technical SEO audits and provide prioritised recommendations for improvement
· Monitor and optimise website performance including page speed, Core Web Vitals, and mobile usability
· Fix crawl errors, indexing issues, broken links, and duplicate content
· Implement on-site SEO updates including metadata, schema markup, XML sitemaps, and
· Support keyword research and on-page optimisation strategies
· Collaborate with developers to implement technical fixes and enhancements
· Work with CMS platforms such as WordPress to apply technical changes
Performance analysis & reporting
· Track and analyse organic performance using GA4, Google Search Console, and other SEO tools
· Prepare monthly reports and technical plans, ensuring alignment with client objectives
· Identify trends, issues, and opportunities and present insights to the wider team and clients
· Contribute to client calls and meetings, explaining technical findings in clear, client-friendly language
· Escalate challenges promptly, offering initial ideas for resolution
Innovation & learning
· Stay up-to-date with SEO trends, search engine algorithm updates, and emerging tools
· Proactively contribute ideas to improve SEO performance and content effectiveness
· Participate in training sessions, workshops, and team discussions to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
· Minimum of 1 year's SEO experience, ideally agency side
· Understanding of website architecture, crawling, indexing, and ranking factors
· Experience with tools such as Google Analytics (GA4 preferred), Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEMrush/Ahrefs, and PageSpeed Insights
· Familiarity with schema markup, canonicalisation, hreflang, and structured data
· Experience working with CMS platforms (WordPress and WooCommerce)
· Ability to set up and monitor conversion and event tracking using GA4 and GTM at a basic level
· Strong analytical skills with a data-driven mindset
· Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts to clients and non-technical stakeholders
· Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
