In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It influences every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Everyone here understands that our Residents are people just like them, with their own stories to tell. By joining HC-One, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to these individuals.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that our residents will love. You'll demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, showing new starters how to use equipment, or cleaning up spills, you'll always prioritize Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience, but it’s essential that you have either an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or the willingness to study for one. Great record-keeping and organizational skills are necessary, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, you'll be considerate and kind.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. It is important that you can recognize signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect, and know what actions to take if concerns arise. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and to undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns appropriately, including escalation if necessary.
We will provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you'll enjoy a variety of benefits supporting your physical and psychological well-being. Throughout your career as a Kitchen Assistant, we will invest in your development and provide additional support and benefits, including:
* Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications.
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
* Free uniform
* During shifts of eight hours or more, a nutritious meal will be provided
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
* Group life assurance cover
* Wagestream - financial wellbeing and flexible access to pay as needed
* Award-winning learning and development opportunities, including support to achieve qualifications.
* GP online - 24/7 GP consultation service via an interactive app, available to you and your children under 16
* Opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues within an outstanding team
* Colleague discounts - access to over 1600 high street discounts
* Wellbeing support, including free access to an Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial issues
* Recognition schemes such as 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
* Refer a friend scheme offering up to £1000 per referral, depending on the role
We are committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve, prioritizing inclusive working practices. We invite applicants from all backgrounds to join our HC-One family. We aim to provide a quick and smooth onboarding process from offer to start date.
