Description Commercial Assistant - Ref: EE12625 G5: £28,598 - £31,022 per annum. Are you organised, numerate, and ready to make a difference in local services? Walsall Council’s Clean & Green team is seeking a Commercial Assistant to support our commercial, financial, and business operations. You’ll play a key role in managing commercial waste contracts, applications for clinical/medical waste collections, supporting financial monitoring, and ensuring the smooth delivery of vital environmental services. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the management of commercial waste contracts and Clean & Green services. Maintain and analyse waste data, including key performance indicators and compliance records. Promote services to commercial clients and the public, handling communications and service queries. Provide financial support: prepare monthly journals, ensure accurate invoicing, and monitor contract income and costs. Liaise with council departments and external customers to ensure full cost recovery on all chargeable work. Support contract management, market development, and initiatives to improve commercial services and increase income. Administer commercial waste agreements, including new applications, amendments and cancellations. Ensure compliance with council financial procedures and deadlines. About You: Experience in administration, finance, or commercial support (public sector experience desirable). Strong organisational and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload. Comfortable working with data and financial records.
