Overview

The Property Recoveries team in Belfast is part of our Claims Solutions Group. Our specialist team provides expert and practical advice over a range of areas: Subrogated property, Uninsured Loss Recoveries, Recovery of overpayments and duplicate payments.

We are currently accepting applications from paralegals and law graduates who are looking for an exciting career within a supportive team and ambitious firm on a 12 month fixed term contract.


What you will do

* Provide a timely, professional and high-quality service to our clients in the management of claims.
* Be responsible for a varied caseload of pre-litigated or litigated work, depending on your role and with support from a supervisor and team manager.
* Screen matters for prospects and liaise with clients upon receipt of instructions.
* Review instructions and provide client advice on case prospects.
* Resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards.
* Instruct experts and counsel, draft Witness Statements and other Court documents.
* Maintain contact with clients and their Customers while proactively managing their expectations.
* Meet individual performance measures (financial performance, realisation rates and other KPIs).
* Ensure that the DAC Beachcroft brand and standards are maintained.
* Adhere to internal and client SLAs, KPIs and protocols; aim for prompt billing and collection of WIP and disbursements; provide prompt and accurate provision of MI; ensure trust balances are cleared promptly.
* Devising a clear case strategy, ensuring cases are run smoothly and balance the commercial interests of both the Firm and the client.
* Apply appropriate and current technical expertise and case law; ensure cases reach repudiation/settlement and complete archiving promptly.
* Effectively manage risk and compliance, escalating emerging problems to the Line Manager as needed.
* Engage with clients to maximise opportunities and act as an ambassador of the firm; contribute to Business Development and client relationship activity as required.


Who you are

We welcome graduates or those with customer service/retail experience who are team players and eager to learn. Paralegals with experience in a legal environment are also encouraged to apply. Typical duties may include:

* Running a full caseload of pre-litigated and litigated files to meet deadlines and manage cases to conclusion. Litigation experience is preferred.
* Caseload will include Small Claims Court and County Court matters.
* Adherence to internal and client SLAs, KPIs and protocols; achievement of chargeable time and financial targets.
* Prompt billing and collection of WIP and disbursements; prompt and accurate provision of MI; ensuring trust balances are cleared promptly.
* Devising a clear case strategy and ensuring cases are run smoothly with consideration of commercial interests.
* Apply current technical expertise and case law; ensure cases reach repudiation/settlement and complete archiving promptly.
* Manage risk and compliance issues and escalate as needed; engage with clients to maximise opportunities and build rapport, acting as an ambassador of the firm.
