Responsibilities
* Delivery of project tasks related to the development of automated and robotic design solutions, improvement of manufacturing processes and verification of design solutions through simulation.
* Conduct experimental work and synthesise outputs for use in project reporting.
* Work to deadline and develop an ability to manage time and resources.
* Communicate own work to peers, both as written and verbal outputs.
* Partake in stakeholder engagement sessions, both industrial and academic.
* Collaborate with peers to develop solutions to complex manufacturing and other highly technical problems.
* Collaborate with colleagues from multiple teams to plan workload and resources to fit project timescales.
* Research into novel technology to advance knowledge, evaluate new techniques and solve specific manufacturing problems.
* Adhere to AMRC's quality management system and health and safety system.
* Compile technical engineering reports and presentations.
* Provide assistance to peers when required.
* Attend conferences, trade shows and other events to develop own capabilities.
* Assist with project delivery outside core area of expertise when required.
* Encourage ethical decision making and embed University sustainability strategy into work activities.
* Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
Person Specification
The following requirements are considered essential or desirable:
* Have a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent industrial experience.
* Ability to work independently under the guidance of a senior colleague and manage own time effectively.
* Ability to work within a project team.
* Ability to communicate, both written and verbally (report writing and presenting work).
* Ability to identify solutions to engineering challenges through research, as directed by senior colleagues.
* Ability to write project outputs within your technical area.
* Experience of developing solutions to complex and technical problems relating to mechanical design and engineering.
* Experience of working to industry standards such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): BS 8888.
* Experience of mechanical design for automation (robot end effector, robot cell).
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of an interview and a presentation. Candidates will be notified of progression to the selection stage two weeks after the closing date.
