Teaching Assistant - SEMH Focus

This is not your usual classroom job.
A brand-new Alternative Provision is opening in East Riding this October, and Remedy Education is helping build the founding team. We're looking for a Teaching Assistant who understands that behaviour is often just the surface and knows how to support young people through challenging days.
This setting will support primary and secondary students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs—pupils who have struggled to settle in mainstream settings and require a more individual approach to learning, trust, and routine.
If you are calm, firm, and resilient in the face of chaos, this might be the role for you.
What the role involves:
1. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
2. Helping students access learning in a way that suits them
3. Maintaining calm and purposeful lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
4. Working closely with teachers and pastoral leads to follow behaviour plans
5. Being a consistent, steady adult presence during the school day
We're looking for someone who:
1. Has experience in SEMH, PRUs, or alternative provisions (or similar)
2. Can hold boundaries with empathy, not ego
3. Does not take challenging behaviour personally
4. Can adapt quickly, stay grounded, and keep showing up
5. Has a current DBS on the update service (or is willing to apply through us)
