Overview
Join us to improve the lives of people in Somerset. We are looking for a Part‑time Registration Officer based in the Mendip area, with travel required to other registration offices in Somerset and North Somerset on short notice.
The role is permanent, annualised to 16 hours per week. The salary is Grade 12, ranging from £12,366 to £13,864 per annum (£14.82 to £16.62 per hour). You will receive 28 days of annual leave pro‑rata for part‑time work and a rota in advance for weekend and Bank Holiday duties.
Responsibilities
* Deliver key life event registrations for residents of North Somerset and Somerset, including births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships, welcome ceremonies, still‑birth registrations and death‑bed weddings.
* Provide a positive experience for the public at these events, demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and accuracy.
* Work effectively with team members across different locations, maintaining clear communication and collaboration.
* Organise and prioritise workload, balancing competing demands while maintaining accountability.
Qualifications and Experience
* Grades 9‑4 (A*‑C/Level 4) in English and Maths, or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in all-round IT and Microsoft Office.
* Customer‑focused attitude with a desire to deliver a positive experience at key life events.
* Ability to travel within Somerset and North Somerset and to work weekend and Bank Holiday shifts.
