We are seeking to appoint an academic lead for Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to support the ongoing delivery of the graduate entry MBChB programme within the Three Counties Medical School (TCMS) at the University of Worcester. The School’s MBChB curriculum is centered around problem-based learning (PBL), applied learning (e.g., simulation), with an emphasis on early patient contact and community-oriented clinical placements. Founded with the aim of widening access to careers in medicine and retaining graduates in the local area, the school opened to students in September 2023.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about Healthcare Education to join the TCMS team. Applicants should have a keen interest in medical education and training, with a good understanding of the seven-step PBL process to provide pedagogic expertise and academic leadership. The role involves working with Phase Leads to support the MBChB curriculum in problem-based learning, designing and developing learning materials and assessments, and contributing to tutor training and a high-quality student experience.
Experience teaching medical students or similar is preferred, but a key requirement is an interest in developing as a medical educator and the ability to work flexibly with the team to meet curriculum needs. There are also opportunities for professional development.
The position is based at the Severn campus. For informal enquiries, contact Professor Rachel Ashworth ([emailprotected]), Lead for Phase 1.
Further details include the Job Description, Person Specification, and application instructions. We value diversity and promote equality at all levels.
