Job Description
Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Location: South Wales
Industry: Food Manufacturing
Salary: Up to £59,000 (including car allowance) + 14% combined pension & private healthcare
This role is for those who want to make a real difference in safety, not just tick boxes. If you're someone who prefers meaningful impact over routine paperwork, this could be the right opportunity for you.
We are looking for an EHS Manager who can drive tangible change, influence senior management effectively, and help make the site safer, healthier, and more environmentally friendly in a sustainable way.
You will be the lead on all EHS matters, managing an EHS Coordinator, and advising the leadership team with credibility. You'll have the authority and support to implement real improvements, not just raise concerns.
The day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Owning and driving the EHS agenda on site
2. Managing and developing the EHS Coordinator
3. Advising the senior team and ensuring your advice is valued
4. Leading risk reduction and hazard elimination projects
5. Setting strategies, identifying gaps, and fixing issues
Requirements:
* 3–5 years of relevant safety and environmental management experience
* Experience working in food manufacturing environments
* Experience managing people, even if just a few
* NEBOSH Certificate (preferably the Diploma), IEMA, or similar qualification
Essential qualities include:
* Common sense
* A strong backbone
* Ability to communicate effectively and naturally with others
You will join a close-knit team that values support and continuous improvement, not hierarchy or politics. If you are skilled in safety and are tired of companies that don't take it seriously, this could be a great fit for you.
