We are currently looking for an Assistant Planner or Planner to join our Development Management Team.
Position details
* Locations: East Suffolk Council, Lowestoft NR33 0EQ or Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 1RT
* Hours: 37 hours per week
* Contract: Permanent
* Salary: Assistant Planner £31,537-£34,434; Planner £35,412-£42,839 per annum (career grade)
Responsibilities
* Working in the Development Management Team, you will manage and assess planning applications and pre-application submissions and appeals in accordance with planning law, national and local policy and guidance.
* Deliver good customer service, working with applicants, other professionals and communities to negotiate and achieve high-quality planning outcomes.
* Take on some planning enforcement duties, as assigned, in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures of the Council.
* At Planner level, play a central role in projects, supported by Senior Planners and Principal Planners.
* At Assistant Planner level, be involved in a similar range of projects at an appropriate level with team support to develop planning knowledge and skills.
* Provide opportunity to attain a planning post-graduate qualification, access to progress to Planner level, and become a full member of the RTPI.
Qualifications and attributes
* First degree in geography, social sciences or a related subject (other disciplines will also often be considered).
* Enthusiastic and committed individual with the ability to deliver in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
* Open to applicants who may not meet all essential requirements but who have relevant potential.
* Interest in contributing to a range of planning issues and projects within a district with diverse urban and rural characteristics.
