A rare opportunity has arisen for a full-time band 6 children's community nurse to join our community children's nursing team in Knowsley.
Location: Manor Farm PCRC, Liverpool (Hybrid working in community).
Closing date: 14 June 2026.
Band: 6, Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum, Contract: Permanent, Working pattern: Full-time.
Job Responsibilities
* Manage a defined caseload of children’s community nursing patients within Mersey Care policies, delivering specialist assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
* Prioritise and delegate planned interventions to support team members in accordance with individual skills and abilities.
* Monitor and evaluate delegated work from the caseload.
* Supervise and coordinate the support team daily and manage the team in the absence of the team leader. Include ongoing management responsibilities such as appraisal and mentoring of junior staff, and support recruitment and retention.
* Monitor, prioritise and delegate client contact within the service, and alert managers if additional resources are required due to changes in demand and capacity.
* Ensure organisational policies, Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and competencies within the skill mix are adhered to by team members.
* Establish and maintain a good working relationship with primary and community care colleagues and other service providers, e.g. education, working collaboratively to provide a comprehensive service to children and young people.
* Agree and contribute to setting team objectives and deliver agreed outcomes.
* Complete statistical returns as required by Mersey Care, entering data onto computerised systems within the required timeframes.
* Attend and actively participate in team, locality and other relevant meetings.
Qualifications
* Current NMC registration, first level nurse.
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nurse (SCPHN) or Community Children’s Nurse (CCN).
* Mentorship experience.
* Post‑graduation CCN qualification.
* Desirable: V100 / V300.
