Overview
Applications are invited for the post offering training in Interventional Radiology with the aim of obtaining a CCT in Clinical Radiology and an Interventional Radiology sub‑specialisation.
Eligibility
Applicants must be in a Specialist Training Radiology Programme, hold a National Training Number and be due to complete ST3 in 2026 (usually by August, commencing the post in August 2026). Suitable candidates may join at ST4 level if they demonstrate satisfactory progression and a commitment to a career in IR.
Training & Experience
Acceptance of the post extends training to include an ST6 year, taking the applicant to their CCT date.
The Interventional Radiology post provides IR training opportunities within the North of Scotland, with possible training in other centres. Training in General Radiology will also be provided, particularly in ST4/5.
Postgraduate Dean confirms that this programme has the required educational requirements and Postgraduate Dean's approval.
Salary
The salary scale for this post is £45,504 – £71,550 per annum, pro rata.
Registration & Licensing
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required before starting the post.
Relocation & Travel
Applicants may be eligible for excess travel and relocation expenses in accordance with NHS Circular PCS(DD) 2010/8.
Working Hours & Pay
From 1/4/26 the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will ensure pay is not affected.
