Description Devices Engineer - Hardware We can have a Coventry, London or Manchester base location for this role. This role requires visits to our office locations, suppliers, stores and depots. As an Engineer (Devices), you’ll be part of a team who are responsible for designing, implementing and improving hardware solutions in our stores, depots and store support centres. When these solutions are live, you’ll be responsible for managing and constantly iterating them. Experience with delivering hardware solutions, and knowledge of iOS, Android, Windows and SOTI is beneficial. You’ll be someone who loves to make things happen and gets excited about identifying and delivering simple solutions to complex problems, at pace in the dynamic Retail industry. You will need to work with many different teams and third parties so a proactive, can-do attitude is essential. We use a variety of tech here, so you need to be willing to pick up new tools and techniques. We’d also like you to be yourself – analytical, curious and unafraid to challenge the status quo. You’ll be a role model for best practices, championing a customer centric mindset and a passion for finding creative ways to solve problems, mentoring fellow engineers as a progressive member of the engineering community. More about the role: It will be up to you to drive the platform engineering product technical roadmap through a deep understanding of technology and broader understanding of roadmaps across CTO’s Leading the design and support of services and internal frameworks that enhance Sainsbury’s capabilities You’ll guide, support and enable performance within the team through providing technical knowledge and ideas We’ll look to you to contribute to optimising our OPEX and CAPEX spend More about you: Expertise in engineering practice A knowledge of operating systems including iOS, Android and Windows, or mobile device management solutions like JAMF, SCCM and SOTI would be advantageous but not all are essential Proven experience of some of the following: security, cloud, networks, operational tools and any relevant hardware and associated operating systems Self-drive and constantly striving to improve your team, division and peers Drive for advocacy of agile/lean delivery methodologies A passion for enhancing your knowledge and evidence curiosity in emerging tech Display empathy and understanding in supporting colleagues in the squad to deliver LI-SE1 Responsibilities We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance.
