Engineering Trainer (Mechanical / Electronic) - OAS

The Vacancy
This Engineering Trainer role involves managing and developing a comprehensive teaching and learning experience in practical and theoretical skills aligned with current apprenticeship standards.
You will deliver high-quality technical training to small groups of learners, either face-to-face or online, and develop softer skills embedded within apprenticeships. Regular constructive feedback and tracking learners' progress are essential.
Key Activities:
1. Deliver Mechanical and/or Electronic knowledge and practical subjects at levels 2, 3, and HTC/HNC – L4, fostering independent learners.
2. Practical delivery of Mechanical topics such as Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Mechanical Principles, Materials, and Fluid Power.
3. Electronic topics like Electrical Principles, Digital Principles, Electronics, PLC, and Robotics.
4. Support apprentice progression towards successful completion.
5. Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces to ensure effective training within guided hours.
6. Create learning content, schemes of work, and assessment materials.
7. Coordinate integration of industry training offers into the apprenticeship scheme.
8. Monitor the learning environment.
9. Ensure health, safety, and welfare of learners in the workplace, working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Knowledge:
* Strong background and experience in Mechanical/Electrical engineering; multi-skilled candidates are preferred.
* Industry experience in Mechanical/Electronic Engineering.
* Understanding of assessment methods, End Point Assessment, Safeguarding, and the Prevent Duty is desirable.
Qualifications:
* Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
* Recognised assessor qualification (e.g., A1, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement) or willingness to gain it.
* Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English (grade C or above).
* Recognised Quality Assurance qualification (e.g., V1, Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance).
* Recognised coaching qualification.
* Higher Education qualification (Level 4 or above) in Engineering.
