Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join the Sleep Service within Respiratory Medicine at Trafford General Hospital. This is a full-time, Band 3 position supporting a fast-paced service. The role requires advanced audio typing skills, medical terminology proficiency, and the ability to manage a high workload. You will provide essential secretarial and administrative support to consultants, fellows, and physiologists, ensuring smooth service delivery for both Trafford and Withington hospitals.
Responsibilities
* Secretarial & Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive secretarial services, including reviewing and typing of medical reports and letters, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
* Referral & Appointment Management: Process non-GP referrals and help coordinate the service's appointments alongside the waiting list managers.
* Correspondence & Communication: Liaise with GPs, patients, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring timely and effective communication.
* Clinic & Waiting List Coordination: Monitor and manage waiting lists in collaboration with the waiting list clerks to minimise delays in patient care.
* Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with Data Protection and Caldicott guidelines.
* Operational Support: Assist in arranging meetings, managing diaries, and supporting junior office staff where necessary.
* Cross-Cover Support: Provide cover for colleagues as needed to ensure the continuity of service.
* Note: This role plays a critical part in the efficiency of the Sleep Service, ensuring timely patient care and operational excellence.
