Band 2 Clinical Support Worker - Cancer Centre

The cancer centre is a busy oncology outpatient department in Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will act as an integral part of the team. The post holder will work to ensure that there is a seamless approach to the provision of non-clinical services, ensuring a high-quality service to patients and provide a service that ensures that patient requirements are met.
You will be expected to organise your workload to ensure that an efficient service is provided and provide cover for each other during periods of leave. It is essential that you should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and vital that confidentiality be maintained at all times.
You will have excellent communication skills, willing to learn and able to work as part of a team.

Main duties of the job
* Helping to run a clinic, which includes calling people from the waiting room, weighing patients and baseline observations
* Organising staff allocations and breaks. Ensuring clinic rooms to ensure the smooth running of the department.
* Phlebotomy skills if needed
* Liaising with transport, receptionists, specialist nurses and consultants.
* Undertakes a liaison role between patients their families and the department passing on information and communication when /where face to face visiting is not possible or is restricted
* Stock control of equipment in the area.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of Maths/English qualifications at Level 2 or above.
* Vocational qualification at level 2 or equivalent relevant experience.
* Level 2 examples: GCSE Grades 9-4 (A-C) Level 2 Diploma in health care support / NVQ, Functional Skills Level 2
* Internationally educated applicants will have to evidence UK ENIC (the UK National Information Centre) Statements of compatibility
* *Care Certificate or can demonstrate prior skills, knowledge and experience that meet the 15 minimum standards described by Health Education England (HEE) Skills for Health
Experience
* *Experience of working / participating as part of a team as an employee / volunteer.
* *Ability to demonstrate/ articulate an understanding of the role and tasks involved and can describe the physical and emotional aspects of the role and some duties
* *Can link the Trust values (Kind, Bold, Connected) to the role and provide examples from personal experience which demonstrate understanding in relation to the role
* *Can explain why training / education and approaches to care need to be consistent in relation to safety and patient experience
* *Has experience of working in a person centred/ facing role in a paid or voluntary capacity.
* *Understanding of the principles of safeguarding in relation to this role
