The Role We’re seeking a proactive and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support a range of exciting projects across multiple industrial sites in the North West. You’ll be involved from concept to completion—designing, developing, installing, and maintaining machinery, systems, and processes to solve real-world challenges and improve operational efficiency. This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll need to be comfortable working on-site, adapting quickly to changing priorities, and delivering work to the highest professional standards. What You’ll Do Provide mechanical solutions from design through to installation. Support and maintain manufacturing equipment—particularly in FMCG and pharmaceutical environments. Repair and overhaul motors, pumps, valves, bearings, and shafts. Modify and improve existing machinery and manufacturing lines. Work with utilities (compressed air, steam, water) and adapt piping systems. Fabricate, fit, and assemble components to technical drawings. Operate fabrication tools and plant equipment (training/licences provided if needed). Offer engineering expertise to our project management team. What We’re Looking For Time-served or apprentice-trained mechanical or electrical engineer. Experience in a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong bench fitting and machining skills. Solid understanding of design principles, materials, and technical drawings (CAD). Skilled in problem-solving, RCA, and continuous improvement. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, meeting tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills and confidence in a client-facing role. Basic Microsoft Office skills for reports and spreadsheets. Desirable but not essential: Experience working at height (MEWP/Scissor Lift). Background in blue-chip manufacturing. IOSH certification.
