GSL Education is seeking a dynamic and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to support pupils on a daily basis at a Provision in Newcastle. The successful candidate will work with identified students within the school to provide 1:1 support and improve their behaviour and academic outcomes. Some students may have additional barriers, so experience with diverse needs is desirable.
We welcome applications from candidates with education experience, as well as those with experience in challenging SEN provisions, youth/community/social services, residential support, ex-military/police/prison/security services, mental health support services (including CRISIS or suicide prevention), sports coaching, or relevant voluntary roles. Applicants with a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification are also encouraged to apply.
The school prioritises creating a calm, safe, and structured environment for students and staff. The team you will be working with is motivated, friendly, and supportive. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4pm. There is a possibility of securing a permanent role after fulfilling contractual obligations for long-term positions.
Person Specification:
* Experience in supporting children ages 3-16
* Excellent rapport-building skills
* Strong academic background
* Calm, kind, and proactive
* Organised and able to follow instructions
* Ability to participate, manage, and assist struggling students in small intervention groups or 1:1 academic sessions
* A valid Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to complete an immediate application
* Verifiable work history
