CNC Maintenance Planning Technician
We are seeking an experienced CNC Maintenance Planning Technician to support our Maintenance and Production teams within a high‑volume manufacturing environment. In this role, you will develop and standardise maintenance methods, improve equipment reliability, and drive continuous improvement across the plant.
You will work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production to ensure best‑practice maintenance planning and methods are fully embedded into daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning, Methods & Standardisation
* Develop and update maintenance methods, procedures, and work instructions to ensure safe, consistent, and efficient working practices.
* Support the implementation of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance), and other maintenance planning methodologies.
* Assist in building maintenance plans, inspection schedules, and standard operating procedures.
Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement
* Analyse breakdowns, repeat faults, and downtime trends to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing scrap, improving cycle times, and increasing equipment uptime.
* Take part in structured problem‑solving activities such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, and PDCA.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
* Provide hands‑on support when complex failures occur, working alongside Maintenance Technicians.
* Assist in developing and optimising preventive and predictive maintenance routines.
* Support commissioning, testing, and validation of equipment changes and new installations.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
* Deliver training on maintenance planning methods, safe working procedures, and new maintenance standards.
* Support the development of technical skills across the maintenance department.
Projects & Engineering Support
* Participate in maintenance and engineering improvement projects from concept to execution.
* Assist with supplier selection, preparing technical specifications, and reviewing proposed solutions.
* Support time, cost, and quality targets for equipment improvements and small technical upgrades.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate:
* HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Planner, or Die Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience with TPM, RCM, or similar maintenance improvement methodologies.
* Solid understanding of industrial systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, automation, robotics, machining, etc.).
* Use of problem‑solving and continuous improvement tools.
* Ability to create clear maintenance instructions, documentation, and standards.
* Strong communication and the ability to support or coach technicians.
* Good planning, organisation, and attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria
* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Experience with:
* Lean manufacturing tools
* PLCs or industrial control systems
* CNC equipment, machining centres, assembly systems, or die‑maintenance
* Experience delivering technical training or mentoring.
